Valentine's Day

Why is it that in my family we celebrate holidays and events with eating and eating out that is???

Last night we went to Wild Ginger for a pre-valentine dinner where Brian proceeded to eat a ton of appetizers before we even got dinner. The satay boar and short ribs were going to make me vomit but for the sake of my husband I got through watching him eat his meat. Then this morning we had a brunch at the Barking Frog at Willows Lodge which was amazing I have to say and it was special since it is where we got married 4 years ago. And then to top off the day we are going to Italianissimo with our friend's Fletcher and Jeni since they decided to go out there tonight. Of course because they are coming from Maple Valley Brian felt the need to attend their romantic dinner with them because they are coming out to our "territory" as he calls it. Ahhh it is good that I have pregnancy pants as I will probably need them after tonights meal.

Cancun 2010

This year was our 6th trip to Cancun with Brian's company Tek Systems. Even though the weather was rainy at times we still had a blast relaxing and eating at 5 star resturants. It was my first year sober which was much easier than I thought. The Amber Odouls is my new favorite drink. We also drove to Tulum and Playa Del Carmen this year which we will do again next year or at least drive to Playa. We found some Cinote's which are natural water springs and took turns jumping in. The water was filled with little fish that would swarm us which freaked me out and there were lots of mosquitos. They love my type O blood. Can't wait for the trip next year!

What is this heartburn?

Well I finally found a cure for my headaches which is caffeine however I have now developed this lovely heartburn. How can this be? I thought only really pregnant people got this? Little did I know that 15 weeks is a pretty typical timeframe to have it. Ugh! Pepcid AC here I come.

1st Trimester

Well I am officially out of my 1st trimester and it feels good. No more nausea!!! I am now 15 weeks and getting ready to start showing so I feel more pregnant. Up to this point I have a little pooch but but I think that is from my insides pushing my stomach out, not a baby yet. Without actually feeling the baby it is hard to believe there is one in there so I am ready to start feeling more pregnant.

We think we are having a girl from the last ultrasound since the technician said a specific bone looked more like a girl so that is good news. We aren't buying any pink yet but still having a heck of a time finding a girl name. If it turns out that we are having a boy than we will probably go with the name Christian.

Can't wait for the next appointment especially the one on March 15th since that is when we get to find out the gender. 99.9% it is a girl so just need confirmation.

Aversions:
steak however a cheeseburger is really good
chicken
coffee
most fish however still like sushi

New addictions:
Taco Time soft taco
strawberries
oranges
mac & cheese
lemonade

We are expecting a new addition to our family

Brian and I found out 5 weeks ago that we were pregnant. I had some symptoms that persuaded me to go to the store and by a pregnany test and low and behold I was. I ended up taking 4 tests and all were positive. For some reason after I had peed on the stick I had this overwhelming feeling that it would say positive.

We were both in shock for about 2 weeks and it took up until our first ultrasound at 8 weeks to really grasp that we were having a baby. The little heartbeat was so exciting to see and we can't wait until our next one at 12 weeks.

Telling friends and family have been fun. We aren't very private people and so we starting telling people at 6 weeks. It was super hard to keep in the secret and we were just so excited to tell people since many have been waiting for 4 years to hear this news.

We decided to tell my family at our pre-Christmas function. I had Meggie and Nate open a bib that said "I love Grandpa" and then I wrote everyone's name on it. When they opened it everyone just sat there and stared. No one got it. Then my sister looked at me and said "are you pregnant" and I said yes. Everyone jumped up and screamed in excitement and my mom ran over to hug me and started crying. Basically the family is over joyed with the news. My grandma blurted out "I just didn't think you were ever going to have a baby so I just gave up". It was quite classic. The picture below is of my grandma saying this.

We told the Vivaldi family over Christmas and they are all super excited as well. I think the most excited person is cousin Cindy Camilucci. She has already volunteered to baby sit. I can't wait for all the girls to come out when I have a baby shower.

Christmas 2009

It was a great Christmas this year. First we celebrated at home with my family and then we celebrated with Brian's family in Folsom but we ended our trip with a little vacation in San Francisco. The trip was filled with seeing lots of family, especially cousins. We also don't get to see Brian's brother Mike that often and it was great to catch up with him.

Rod the wine god of the family opened a1996 BV Georges De Latour which was to die for. He always supplies the good stuff.

Unfortunately we both got sick on New Years Eve and ended up staying home. We were awaken at midnight by Sonny barking at the fireworks.

Half Marathon in Vegas

We did it! Brian and I ran the Vegas Rock and Roll Half Marathon on December 6th. It was very cold but very fulfilling. The course was the entire strip and back so it was completely flat. I was able to get a personal best and finish in 2:23 and Brian finished in 1:58. After the race was done we ordered a bunch of room service, showered, napped and watched movies until we went out and celebrated that night. Another highlight of the trip was I won $1100 in Wheel of Fortune. It was probably one of my favorite Vegas trips ever!

(Here is Brian at the starting line. Too tired to get a video after the race)
